Scouting Arizona’s 2025 Report to the State

Honoring Scouting’s Impact: A Day at the Arizona State Capitol

On Tuesday, March 11, 2025, Scouting Arizona, Grand Canyon Council proudly visited the Arizona State Capitol to deliver the annual Report to the State. This time-honored tradition highlights the positive impact Scouting has on youth across Arizona, showcasing how Scouting builds character, leadership, and service-minded citizens. The report not only strengthens Scouting’s brand and visibility but also instills a sense of pride within our Scouting community.

A Day at the Capitol

The day began with the contingent’s arrival at the Arizona Capitol Museum, where Scouts explored Arizona’s rich history and prepared for their presentations. The group was made up of 14 Scouts, along with their leaders and council representatives. Represented Troops and Pack: Troop 747, Troop 653, Pack 275, Troop 3014, Troop 3030, Troop 505, Troop 3546, Troop 546, Troop 4201.

The Scouts split into two groups to help open the day’s legislative sessions in both the House of Representatives and the Senate. Thanks to the warm hospitality of the sergeants-at-arms for both chambers, our Scouts had the honor of leading the Pledge of Allegiance and prayer. They also distributed council neckerchiefs and copies of the Report to the State to every member. In a special moment, the Senate Chamber invited the Scouts to present the colors, a proud reminder of Scouting’s core values of duty and patriotism.

Meeting Arizona’s Leaders

Following their time in the House and Senate, the Scouts walked to the Arizona Supreme Court for a meeting with Justice Kathryn H. King. Justice King graciously accepted the Report to the State and spoke to the Scouts about the critical role the Arizona Supreme Court plays in the Judicial Branch. She shared her hope that visits like these would inspire some of the Scouts to become the next generation of legal professionals.

The day concluded with a visit to the 8th Floor Executive Tower, where the Scouts met with Governor Katie Hobbs. After a brief presentation of the report and the gifting of a council neckerchief, Governor Hobbs shared a heartfelt connection to Scouting—her son is an Eagle Scout through the Grand Canyon Council. It was a reminder that Scouting touches the lives of families from all walks of life, including those who serve at the highest levels of our state government.

As we reflect on this year’s Report to the State, we are reminded that the spirit of Scouting continues to thrive in Arizona. It’s through these meaningful interactions with our state’s leaders that we build lasting relationships and amplify Scouting’s mission. Thank you to everyone who made this event possible—our Scouts, leaders, and elected officials. Together, we are building a stronger future for Arizona.
